Comments for what material should I use for my total boat cover?

No,that is correct I'm not a fan of ripstop. It just won't hold up. I would most likely go with 7 oz. Weathermax 80 for that cover. The lightweight fabric should be easy for you to handle. The diesel dust is going to pretty much wreck any cover you make, but then that's the covers job to protect what is beneath. So that is my take on the cover.
