can you replace a #8 plastic zipper on a sail cover with stainless zipper and pull?

We have a sail cover with a degrading plastic #8 zipper. I would like to replace it with a #10 stainless zipper as the boat spends a lot of time in salt watet.

Hi Patti,
The zippers themselves are plastic for the marine environment. They are two styles, coil which is called ziplon and vislon, your traditional tooth zipper.
So this part of the zipper does not come in stainless. What does come in stainless is the slider, but only for the #10 size zipper. It does help to have a stainless steel slider, but if you swap out your regular metal or plastic slider yearly, you will do just fine too. With the price of the stainless slider, it makes sense to swap it out yearly.
Hope this helps,
Tammy
