I used a household mildew cleaner on my tan canvas Bimini and now the canvas is hard and brittle. Is there a treatment that I may apply to the canvas to restore softness and suppleness to it?

Hi John,
Some of the chemicals commercially available will actually alter the fabric permanently. They are to harsh for the fabrics we want to use them on. However sometimes you feel like you have no choice because of the difficulty getting the mold off.
If the canvas is more like a vinyl you might try Iosso vinyl & leather cleaner conditioner or 303 convertible top conditioner. If it is more like a fabric, there is nothing I am aware of that will bring back softness. You may also be retaining some of the chemical on the fabric and might try another good washing with Iosso mold mildew and stain remover and then treat it with starbrite waterproofing. I hope one of these solutions work for you.
