We have an older pontoon boat that we want to make an enclosure for .. Being on a very limited income we would like to use Duck and waterproof it .. will we encounter any major problems ??

I really don't recommend plain untreated Duck for making a boat enclosure. If you are going to use Duck, take a look at the fabric called sunforger. It's pre-treated for water resistance UV and is pre-shrunk. It should work out well for you in Michigan and the price is right. Of course, I would prefer you use an acrylic with a 5-year warranty, but I don't always get my way and I do understand the need for staying in budget.
