Leaking zipper

Yes, rain and zippers are a bit of a problem.
Even when zippers are new, rain can squeeze through.
As zippers age the plastic slowly degrades and the spaces between the zipper teeth grow larger.

It helps if the fabric covers the zipper with a flap or even meet and touch in front of the zippers, but even when it meets and touches, water can still find a way to weep in.
Plus, with aging, shrinking canvas , the gap widens over time.
So where the fabric once may have touched, it no longer does.

You can take the canvas and have an exterior flap installed, that would help tremendously.

Another solution is buying zippers that are water resistant.
Lenzip has their #10 RainDefyer and Paskal has their S lock zippers. Ykk also has a rain resistant zippers.
So their are solutions, but normal marine zippers will let some water through.
